Katharina Ollefs: Experienced Researcher (secondee)

I carried out my PhD research (Thesis title: Design of a new setup for longitudinal XDMR) in the group of  Prof. M. Farle at the Center for Nanointegration (CeNIDE) at University of Duisburg-Essen.  After obtaining my PhD in 2012, I worked for 2.5 years as a Post-doctoral researcher with  Dr. A. Rogalev in the Electronic Structure and Magnetism group at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) before moving to Prof. H. Wende’s  group within the experimental physics division at University of  Duisburg-Essen.

During my first month of secondment I was introduced to the clean-room preparation and characterization facilities at Seagate and participated in several experiments dealing with enhanced moment materials and materials with tailored magnetic damping. Furthermore I discussed with Seagate employees about possible new experiments to be carried out at University of Duisburg-Essen or at the synchrotron radiation facilities.
