As an early stage researcher at Seagate, I focused on micromagnetic simulations of reader heads using MAGPAR code which included
(a) Investigation of meshing problems within complex writer head geometries. I was searching for alternative algorithms if one is unable to resolve problems using the default ‘tetgen’ meshing.
(b) Looking at potential materials which have engineered permeability (metamaterials/ thin films/ multilayers, etc.) for use in writer shields.
(c) Looking at possible writer geometry changes to improve writer performance.
